A glimpse of our trip

Though not very many people want to see my family standing in front on famous places, there are a few that do.  This post is for them and for me to remember all the great places we shared together.

We began our cross country drive on Saturday with a stop for church in Illinois on Sunday arriving late that night in Williamsburg, Virginia.

 We enjoyed getting to know colonial America in Williamsburg.

 My crazy sister hosted us in her home in Maryland and showed us a great time including joining us for some of the touring of great sites in her area.

 One of the best things we did to see the various monuments and war memorials was to rent these bikes.

We also got to try our hand at crabbing.  A little early in the season we didn't catch anything but still fun.

Thank you so much Amber and all your family.  You kept us well fed, rested, happy, hopping and building great memories with your family.  We love you even more having spent so much time together.  Now you need to come visit us!

Baby chicks adjusting

When you have adult hens and then purchase baby chicks you can't just put them together.  You baby the babies with a heat lamp and special spot.  Then as they get older you create a bigger special spot near the adults but not with because chickens are not nice to strangers.  Then when they are use to being only a chicken wire apart for a while you let them get together and hope they will be nice.  At least that is how we have done it in the past.

This year with our not even quite a month old baby chicks we were told that if we just put them in the coop after dark on a dark night then the adults would just accept them.  Well, it worked!  We put them in the coop a couple of nights ago and although the young ones and old ones don't mix much they are being polite and we have had no casualties.  So grateful.

College Graduate!

Emily did it!  She earned her bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in HR.  She is amazing with a 4.0 this semester.

She has great plans to earn her Master's degree beginning next fall.  She has also been awarded a teaching assistantship.  I'm so proud of my little girl.
